Question of the Day: How Often Do You Visit the Post Office?

With the federal government looking to shut down hundreds of post offices across the country in order to save money, North Fork Patch wants to know — how often do you use your local Post Office anyway?

The U.S. Postal Service is strapped for cash and is launching a study to see if closing thousands of local post offices would help it recover from last year's $8 billion loss in revenue.

According to this article from the Huffington Post, most of the approximately 3,600 offices that will be reviewed are located in rural areas.

"Once an office is selected for a review, people served by that office will have 60 days to file their comments and, if an office is to be closed, they will be able to appeal to the independent Postal Regulatory Commission," the article says.

UPDATE, 11 a.m.: The list of Post Offices to be reviewed has been released. Click here to see that only Setauket, Bay Shore and Uniondale are on the list across Long Island.

But if any one of our small post offices here on the North Fork ends up closing, would it bother you? Do you still pay your bills the old-fashioned way or are you doing most of that online? Would the cutting of weekend post office hours cramp your style?
