PHOTOS: Fishers Island Gets Population Boost For a Day

Isolated island community gets visit from the Southold Town Board and others interested in the North Fork's easternmost hamlet.

Once a year, members of the Southold Town Board visit Fishers Island in mid-August for a town board meeting, traveling on a special ferry out of the Plum Island station in Orient. The day started with high humidity but cooled with a breeze and slightly overcast sky on the ride back. Participants enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch before the meeting at the Fishers Island School.

Enjoy these photos and stay tuned for stories on the current state of Fishers Island on North Fork Patch.
