North Fork Election Guide 2012

Our wrap-up of the candidates, incumbents and issues facing voters in November.

As we look ahead to November’s elections, North Fork Patch is here to bring you the information you need about every race. Here's our rundown on the candidates and issues we'll be covering as Election Day draws near. Bookmark this page for updates.

For the 2012 Elections, voters in the North Fork Area will be deciding races on the state and federal level. Perhaps the hottest matchup, aside from the presidential race, is First Congressional District rematch between Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, and Republican and St. James businessman Randy Altschuler. On the state level. The state Senate race between incumbent Sen. Kenneth LaValle and Bridget Fleming is also an active one. New this year to the region is the state's Second Assembly District, which now includes Shelter Island. Though the incumbent is running unopposed.

"North Fork Patch is here to bring you the information you need about every race." I guess there are no local elections in Southold this year. Too bad. I was hoping for an exciting race for the Trustees. I guess not. Mike, Jeri, take down the signs, call off the fundraisers, and cancel the meet and greets. The party's over.

Good point, Tom. The "special election" taking place in Southold was overlooked by the author. Also, didn't the 1st Assembly district become the 2nd Assembly distrct and the 2nd Assembly district became the 1st Assembly district or something like that?

Make a special note to remember to watch the Free and Equal Election Debate between third party candidates, Gov. Gary Johnson and Dr. Jill Stein to be aired tonight on Monday evening, Nov. 5th from 9:00 - 10:30 pm Eastern Time. Perform a worthwhile civic duty, and be certain to listen in on this historic debate so that you can make an informed decision on voting day. Third party candidates who will be on the ballot in most states deserve to be heard. http://freeandequal.org/?v=1
