How Should Tim Bishop Vote on Syria Attack?

President said he will let Congress debate and vote on military action against the Middle Eastern country, after secretary of state says there is little doubt the regime launched a chemical weapons attack on insurgents.

President Barack Obama this weekend said he will let the U.S. congress decide on whether to attack Syria after an alleged chemical weapons attack by Syrian President Bashar Assad that killed hundreds of children and violated international rules of war.

As Americans are "weary of war," the president said in his Saturday address to the public that putting the decision in the hands of the people's representatives was more in line with the country's democratic ideals.

"I know that the country will be stronger if we take this course, and our actions will be even more effective," he said.

For people living on Long Island's North Shore and East End, that means Rep. Tim Bishop will be responsible for representing their voices in the debate.

Bishop, in a statement issued this weekend, praised the President for hosting the debate.

"The situation demands careful and deliberate consideration of the classified intelligence on the nature of the strike being contemplated, including the potential for collateral damage and possible responses from the Assad regime," he said.

Now is the time to tell Bishop where you stand. Should he vote in favor of the Syria attack? Vote in our poll above and let us know in the comments
