Greenport Village Officials Gives Snow Tips To Residents

Village officials have asked residents to stay off the roads

As the first snowfall of the season falls on the North Fork, elected officials in Greenport have issued instructions for residents.

Trustees have asked that residents remove cars from the road, to make plowing easier and keep crews and residents safe.

Residents are also asked to maintain their own sidewalks to ensure safety for all.

In addition, village officials have suggested that residents check on their neighbors, especially the elderly or those with special needs.

"Most importantly, do not drive on the road unless absolutely necessary," the reminder stated.

Anyone who has a utility emergency should call 631-477-0172. For other emergencies, call the Southold Town Police Department at 631-765-2600.

Those with special needs in an emergency are asked to contact the Village of Greenport at (631) 477-0248, x 215.

The designated shelter for Greenport residents is Greenport High School.
