Greenport Farmers Market Moves to United Methodist Church

Farmers’ market organizers announce new location this past weekend.

After debating with the Greenport Village Board about new locations outside the Adam’s Street parking lot and, most recently, a rate hike for using village space, representatives of the Greenport Farmers’ Market have announced that they are moving to a lot next to the on Main Street this spring.

because the Greenport Farmers' Market used spaces in the municipal lot off of Adam’s Street during prime Saturday morning hours during the summer season. Most recently, Village Trustee George Hubbard suggested that the board increase the fee to set up the market from $1,000 to $2,500 to be fair to other businesses paying rent and taxes in town.

“The Greenport United Methodist Church has welcomed us to hold our Saturday Market in their lot off First Street,” market director Lara McNeil said in the email announcement. “We look forward to working with the church and are excited to continue helping small North Fork farmers and producers, as well as the members of our community.”

The market plans an opening day party on April 28. Email info@greenportfarmersmarket.com for more information.
