Former Town Board Candidate Gets GOP Nod for Legislature

Albie de Kerillis to run in November for seat currently held by Al Krupski.

An East Marion man who ran for Southold Town Board in 2009 has been tapped to run for Suffolk County Legislature this fall.

According to the Suffolk Times, Albie de Kerillis was nominated by Suffolk County Republicans Tuesday night to run for the seat Democrat Al Krupski won in a special election earlier this year, with a two-to-one margin over Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter. The seat opened up after former Legislator Ed Romaine won a race for the Brookhaven Town Supervisor seat.

De Kerillis, a former captain in the Greenport Fire Department and Army paratrooper, finished third in a four-person race in 2009, coming in 106 votes behind fellow Republican Chris Talbot.
