Municipal codes are voluminous records of rules and regulations passed by town and village board members over the years.
But what exactly are in our local codes?
Much of them pertain to land use — zoning regulations, development capacities, etc. Other parts regulate activities on preserved land in town, other parts on certain industries within Southold, and of course part of it outlines responsibilities of certain town government capacities.
We thought we'd take a look at various codes around the North Fork — including the Southold Town, Greenport Village, and Shelter Island — and test our readers' knowledge about some of the more particular parts of it.
If you know the answers to all of these questions, you probably work in code enforcement or in a clerk's office.
We'll post the answers in a few days, so check back soon.
