What's Pouring at Wölffer Estate Vineyard

Here's a selection of Wölffer's tasting menu and accompanying hors d'oeuvres.

By Andrew Lenoir

Wölffer Estate Vineyard, in Sagaponack, offers six different wine tasting flights to please any oenophile.

For $20, patrons can partake of the “Grand Tasting,” which sales director Suellen Tunney described as “the best description of Long Island wines.” The four wines, considered by Wölffer to be the best in their respective categories, are “White Mischief” Chardonnay 2011, “Grandioso” Rosé 2012, “Caya” Cabernet Franc 2010, and Grapes of Roth Merlot 2007.

For $18 visitors receive the “Club Tasting,” a selection of wines distributed to  Wölffer Estate Wine Club members. The flight includes Trebbiano 2012, “Perle” Chardonnay 2010, “Lambardo” Merlot 2010 and “Cassango” Cabernet Sauvignon 2009.

This year’s signature flight is the $16 “Summer in a Bottle,” made up of wines that Tunney feels capture the essence of what customers are looking for to refresh themselves in summertime. This includes “Cool As Well” sparkling 2009, Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Rosé Table Wine 2012, and “Fatalis Fatum” Red Blend 2010.
