Two Cars Topple on North Fork Highways

Fire departments report two major car accidents on Thursday, one an overturned car that diverted traffic.

Two car accidents on Thursday snarled traffic on the North Fork.

In the first, a woman drove a Mitsubishi Lancer up a utility pole and onto a wire near the bus stop in front of the Mattituck Shopping Plaza at around 10 a.m. The driver was unharmed, authorities reported. Later on Thursday afternoon, just before 2 p.m., police and fire authorities had to divert traffic due to an overturned truck on Route 48 near the intersection of Depot Lane. and members of the responded to the scene.
