Teen Arrested on Criminal Drug Charges

Teen reportedly had marijuana and a scale in his car after being pulled over for speeding.

Southold Police said a 17-year-old Mattituck was arrested on criminal drug charges after he was caught driving with marijuana and a scale in his car.

According to police, the teen was pulled over for speeding on Tuesday shortly after 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Route 48 and Henry's Lane, when an officer smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from his vehicle.

Upon further inspection, police said they found a quantity of marijuana and a scale. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a criminal substance in the fifth degree as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, later released on bail, and given a future court date.
