Police: Southold Man Hospitalized After Hitting LIPA Pole

Utility pole snapped in half after crash.

David Januzzi, 48, of Southold, was taken to the hospital after he ran off the road and hit a Long Island Power Authority utility pole with his vehicle on Tuesday at 9:49 a.m., police said. Januzzi was traveling westbound in a 2005 Audi sedan when he lost control of the car and struck the LIPA pole, snapping it in half, police said. Januzzi had minor injuries and was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital by members of the Southold Fire Department. LIPA responded to repair pole.
