See Who Won the North Fork Fire District Elections

See who won in a heated three-way Mattituck race.

The dust has settled, and the North Fork fire district results are in.

After a heated race in Mattituck, where three candidates faced off for one open seat and a five-year term after incumbent William Young decided not to run again; Michael Sweeney won with 85 votes. Challenger Leonard Llewelyn received 59 votes and John Heeg garnered 62 votes.

In Cutchogue, Andrew McCaffrey won the race for a five-year term. A total of 501 ballots were cast, with 212 for incumbent Arthur Brewer and 278 for McCaffrey. There were also 11 write-in votes, and some that were void.

Three districts had candidates running unopposed:

In Orient, Joseph Wysocki ran unopposed. In East Marion, Donald Dzenkowski threw his hat in once again for his five year seat and Michael Griffin ran unchallenged to complete his current term. And in Southold, current chair Donald Sayre ran unopposed for a five-year seat.
