Laurel Teen Busted for Graffiti Spree

Laurel man is charged with making graffiti and criminal trespass offences this week.

Ryan Valek, 18, of Laurel, was charged with three counts of making graffiti and one count of third-degree criminal trespassing on Tuesday, after an investigation into a string of graffiti incidents that occurred during the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 lead police to Valek, police said.

Valek is alleged to have used both spray paint and markers to "tag" a number of buildings and traffic signs throughout the Town of Southold, police said. The locations include the bathhouse at the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Park District Beach located on the Nassau Point Causeway, trailers located near the intersection of Route 48 and Cox Lane in Cutchogue, and a barn at Corey Creek Vineyard on Route 25 in Southold. Valek is charged with the misdemeanor count of third-degree criminal trespassing for unlawful entry into the barn at Corey Creek Vineyard, police said. Valek was released on bail and will be arraigned in the Southold Justice Court in mid-April.
