Police: Teen Steals Condoms from 7-11; Obama Car Vandalized

In other police news, a Cutchogue man flees car accident scene after hitting a fire hydrant on Nassau Point Road.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• An 18-year-old Mattituck man was charged with petit larceny on Oct. 15 at 2:40 p.m., after police observed him on video surveillance stealing a box of condoms from Mattituck 7-11, police said. He was arrested and released on bail for a later court date.

• Luke L. Mastrorocco, 18, of Cutchogue, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license on Oct. 19 at 9:02 a.m., after he lost control of a 1997 Lincoln while driving west on Nassau Point Road in Cutchogue, struck a fire hydrant then a tree and then fled the scene, police said. Mastrorocco returned to the scene about 45 minutes later and was arrested on the above charges.

• A Southold woman reported to police on Oct. 23 that someone had vandalized her Honda Accord with black spray paint, covering up Obama and Bishop political bumper stickers, police said. The car was parked in her driveway on North Bayview Road while she was away from home Sunday and Monday, when she told police she believes the vandalism occurred. The incident is still under investigation.
