Police: Southold Man Charged With DWI

Alfonso Mendez, 21, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated on July 8 at 9:47 p.m. after he was stopped in Cutchogue by police officers who were investigating a previous incident that had occurred in Mattituck, police said. Mendez had driven by a female a couple of times in the Mattituck Plaza parking lot, making that female uncomfortable and report the incident to police, police said. Officers responded and found Mendez on Route 25 in Cutchogue where he was stopped and found to be intoxicated, police said. Mendez was arrested, transported to headquarters, processed and held overnight for arraignment.
