Police: Southold Man Charged With DWAI

Southold Town Police charge a Southold man with driving while impaired by drugs after finding him sleeping in his vehicle.

Michael Lafreniere, 23, of Southold was charged with driving while impaired by drugs on Thursday at 7:44 p.m. after police received a report of a man sleeping in his vehicle in the roadway on Oregon Road in Mattituck, police said. Lafreniere appeared to be impaired and failed several roadside sobriety tests, and police found that he also had no front plate and no inspection on his vehicle. He was arrested, transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for a blood test, then to police headquarters in Peconic, police said.
