Police Report: Marijuana Possession Following Cutchogue Car Accident

Southold Town Police report an incident of marijuana possession during the investigation of a motor vehicle accident this past Friday.

Michael Moonan, 18, of Garden City was charged with possession of marijuana and illegal possession of prescription pills on Friday at 10:26 p.m., after police responded to a car accident that resulted in the hospitalization of a 19-year-old woman on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said. Moonan was driving a 2005 GMC suburban west on Route 25 when a 1998 Cadillac driven by Unsal Orcun, 24, of Jamesport struck Moonan's vehicle as Orcun attempted a left-hand turn into the parking lot of 7-Eleven, police said. Officers at the scene smelled an odor of marijuana coming from Moonan's car and subsequently found Moonan to be in possession of marijuana and 31 rectangular-shaped white pills, for which Moonan did not have a prescription, police said.
