Police Report: DWI, Shoplifting and Fire

Southold Town Police report incidents of driving while intoxicated, shoplifting and a house fire.

Manfred Fuchs, 45, of Astoria, Queens, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday at 8:41 p.m. after police stopped him for driving a 1990 Ford with a defective headlight on Route 25 in Greenport, police said. Fuchs failed several roadside sobriety tests and was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Flora Rodriguez-Vivaldo, 31, of Greenport was charged with shoplifting on Nov. 22 at 12:58 p.m., after a 34-year-old manager of the Greenport IGA reported to police that she had stolen $44.99 worth of groceries from the store. The manager said that he had seen Rodriguez-Vivaldo shoplifting throughout the store, placing items in the bottom of her baby's stroller, and that she did not take any of those items out to ring up at the cash register, police said.

Members of the extinguished a fire on Nov. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at a Sterling Avenue residence in Greenport. The 54-year-old owner of the residence reported a fire on the second floor and all eight of the occupants had gathered some belongings and evacuated the premises prior to the firefighters arrival, police said.
