Police Report: DWI, MVA and a Disabled Train

Southold Town Police reported one incident of driving while intoxicated by drugs and a LIRR train disabled mid-track by a snow drift this week.

Efrain Alajandro Cuellar Andrade, 26, of Greenport was charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs, unlicensed operation of a vehicle, disobeying a stop sign, and driving without a seat belt on Jan. 20 at 12:09 p.m., after police stopped Andrade for rolling through a stop sign and detected the scent of marijuana, police said. Police also found that Andrade also had a bench warrant from Riverhead Town Police.

Oliver Fernandez, 45, of Greenport was charged with disorderly conduct on Jan. 20 at 7:51 p.m., after police responded to a report of an intoxicated male on Adams Street in the village, police said. During investigation, Fernandez urinated in front of the officers and pedestrians at the scene, police said.

A Greenport-bound Long Island Rail Road train became disabled on tracks about a half mile east of Cox Lane in Cutchogue on Jan. 21 at 8:33 p.m., police said. The conductor reported that the train went through a snow drift on the tracks, which shut the engine down. Police notified MTA authorities, who responded to the scene and transported the train’s 25 passengers to an awaiting MTA bus on Cox Lane.

Nicholas Stasichin, 18, of Northport was driving east on Route 48 in Southold on Monday at 9:06 a.m., when he fell asleep, drifted onto the shoulder and hit a snow embankment, police said. Members of the responded. Stasichin had no injuries.

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were charged with the above offenses. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
