Police Report: DWI, Drug Possession and a Fake ID

Southold Town Police report one incident of drug possession and two incidents of driving while intoxicated this week.

Liat Zvi, 23, of Freeport was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, driving while intoxicated and failing to maintain his lane on Saturday at 4:01 p.m., after police observed him cross over the solid white line while he drive a 2004 Audi on Route 25 in Cutchogue, reported.

Leonardo Payes, 31, of Mattituck was charged with DWI and driving without a license on Nov. 4 at 11:37 p.m. after he was involved in motor vehicle accident while driving a 2006 Toyota pickup truck on Depot Lane in Cutchogue when he lost control of his truck, left the roadway and struck a tree, police said. Officers at the scene found Payes to be intoxicated. He was transported to for evaluation then to police headquarters in Peconic for processing.

Ismael Perez, 23, of Greenport was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday at 5:38 p.m. in Greenport after he charged at another man who was exiting his vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Center Street, police said. Perez was highly intoxicated and struck the hands of the officer at the scene who was trying to restrain Perez.

Mario Salmeron, 28, of Southold was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and unlicensed operation of a vehicle on Nov. 1 at 7:44 p.m. after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Route 48 in Southold. Police said Salmeron gave the officer at the scene a forged Washington D.C. license.

None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were charged with the above offenses. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
