Police: Man With Suspended License Stopped for Using Electronic Device

Southold Town Police stop a Greenport man who was driving with a suspended license.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Ralph Mims III of Greenport was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on July 22 at 10:43 p.m., after an officer on foot patrol attempted to stop Mims on Front Street for using an electronic device while driving his vehicle, reported. Mims saw the officer and drove away, police said. Another officer later located Mims and stopped him. A computer check revealed that Mims was driving with a suspended license and he was arrested, police said. Mims was also given traffic tickets for failing to comply and using an electronic device while driving a vehicle.
