Police: Man Armed With Gun Robs Patriot Gas Station of $600

The suspect in this past Thursday's Greenport gas station armed robbery is still at large.

A man armed with a gun robbed the on Main Street in Greenport this past Thursday night, reported on Tuesday.

Eddie Okul, the owner of the Patriot station for seven years, said that the robbery took place just before the shop’s closing at 10 p.m.

“I had already left, but my brother John said that the man came in with a gun, pointed it at him at and asked for all the money,” Okul said. “Then he walked behind the counter and took about $600 from the register and from my brother’s wallet.”

Southold Town Police Capt. Martin Flatley described the suspect as a black male in his mid- to late 20s wearing a black winter hat and a dark hooded sweatshirt. The suspect is still at large and the incident remains under investigation, Capt. Flatley said.
