Police: Larceny, Marijuana Charges Reported in Greenport

Southold Town Police report incidents of larceny and marijuana possession this week.

The following information was supplied by various town police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Tyler L. Schiffelbian, 28, of Remsenburg, was charged with petit larceny on Sept. 19 at 10:09 a.m. after a Greenport man caught him taking copper from his business without permission, police said. Schieffelbian had been fired from the business earlier that morning, police said.

• Anthony Chance, 31, of Greenport, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sept. 20 at 11:03 a.m., after a 35-year-old Greenport man reported that he witnessed Chance riding the bicycle that was stolen out of his yard a few nights prior, police said. While speaking with the victim, Chance returned to the scene riding the stolen bicycle. Chance was stopped and returned the bicylce to the owner who did not want to press charges. During the investigation, Chance was found to be in possession of four dime bags of marijuana, police said.
