Police: Larceny Incidents Reported Across North Fork

Jewelry, kayaks go missing from local homes.

Three separate reports of larceny were recently reported to Southold Town Police:

• A 31-year-old Mattituck woman reported to police on Jan. 4 that someone stole about $3,000 worth of jewelry sometime between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24, 2011, police said. The jewelry had been tucked away in a closet attached to an upstairs bedroom, and when the woman was packing for vacation on Christmas Eve, she noticed the jewelry was gone, police said. Southold Town Police detectives are investigating the incident.

• A 74-year-old Mattituck woman reported to police on Jan. 6 that $700 worth of silver dishes were taken from her East Marion home on sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Jan. 6, police said.

• A 53-year-old Cutchogue woman reported to police on Jan. 6 that someone stole two yellow kayaks worth $300 each from a dock behind her Beebe Road home, police said. The woman told police that she had last seen the kayaks sometime in November, police said.
