Police: Knife Assault, Revoked License in Mattituck

Southold Town Police report a charge of assault with a knife and another of driving without a license in Mattituck this weekend.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

• Heath Austin Leacy, 40, of Mattituck, was charged with second-degree assault on May 5 at 11:54 a.m., after police responded to a report of an assault at 570 Pacific Street in Mattituck, police said. Upon arrival, officers on the scene found that a55-year-old Mattituck man had been assaulted with a knife had sustained a laceration to his face, police said. The man identified his attacker as Leacy who was found still at the residence, police said. Leacy was taken into custody without incident, charged with the assault, and held pending arraignment. The victim was transported by members of the tofor his injuries.

• Donald E. Schilley, 41, of Mattituck, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on May 5 at 6 p.m., after police stopped him on Legion Avenue in Mattituck for having an expired registration, police said. A further investigation revealed that his license was revoked, and he was arrested, transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic and released on an appearance ticket.
