Police: July 4 Car Accident Sends Drivers to Hospital

Selden woman hits car stopped at stop sign in Southold, say police.

A car accident hospitalized two drivers during the late night hours of July 4, reported.

Lyn Rausch, 51, of Selden was driving east in her vehicle on Route 48 in Southold on July 4 at 11:20 p.m., when she went off the road and struck a vehicle driven by Kenneth Hippner, 40, of Lebanon, Ohio, who was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Boisseau Avenue and Route 48, police said. Both drivers and the passengers in Hippner's vehicle were transported by members of the Southold Fire Department to for treatment of various injuries. The accident is currently under investigation, police said.
