Police Issue Warrant for Greenport Peeping Tom

Southold Town Police are looking for James Lawrence, a man with a history of criminal lewd behavior in the village.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

James Lawrence, 35, of Greenport, is facing a misdemeanor charge of third-degree criminal trespass after he reportedly looked into the first floor windows of several different houses on First Street in the village during the early morning hours of April 7, police said.

Southold Town Justice Court issued an arrest warrant on April 19 for Lawrence, whose last known address is on Second Street in Greenport and who now has a lengthy criminal record of similar offences.

In April of 2010, Lawrence was charged with public lewdness and burglary after breaking into a Main Street home and exposing himself to two young girls, who were looking out a window from a residence across the street, police reported at the time. Lawrence had been charged with several other similar counts of public lewdness in the village in previous years.

Anyone with information about this incident or of the whereabouts of Lawrence are encouraged to call the Southold Town Police at (631)765-2600. All calls will be kept confidential.
