Police: Homeless Sex Offender Fails to Register in Greenport

Southold Town Police arrest a homeless man in Greenport for failing to register as a sex offender.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Felix Cruz Garcia, a 39-year-old homeless man, was charged with failing to register and verify his address as a sex offender on May 28 at 6:05 p.m. Cruz-Garcia was arrested on an active arrest warrant after police observed him walking on Third Street in Greenport, police said. Cruz-Garcia was wanted by Suffolk County Police for failing to verify and register his current address as a registered sex offender. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic where he was processed and turned over to the Suffolk County Police Fugitive Squad.
