Police: Homeless Man Arrested for Pair of Burglaries

Southold Town Police charge homeless man with two counts of burglary after overnight break-in at Angels Country Store in East Marion.

John Greene, 42, whom have identified as homeless, was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary on Friday at 6:48 a.m. in connection with an overnight break-in at in East Marion and an early incident at in Peconic, Southold Town Police reported.

Police said that employees of Angels noticed at about 5 a.m. on Friday that the store had been broken into and notified authorities. After reviewing surveillance video, police spotted a man walking on Horton's Lane in Southold who matched the description of the one caught on video, police said. Greene was arrested and was found to be in possession of stolen items from Angels during processing, police said.

Investigators were also able to link Greene to a break-in at Country Petals in Peconic that occurred on Thursday, police said.
