The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
Cody Clifford, 18, of Greenport, was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation, and driving on the sidewalk on Nov. 8 at 3:45 p.m., after a police officer attempted to stop Clifford for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 48 in Peconic, police said. Clifford then led police on a chase that lasted approximately four miles. Clifford was arrested and eventually taken into custody.
