Police: Greenport Deck Fire Doused

Homeowner Richard Ramsden reported that he was awakened by a neighbor stating his house was on fire shortly after 10 p.m., police said. Ramsden had been barbecuing earlier, and embers from the grill caught the outside deck on fire, police said. Greenport Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames before they reached the rest of the house.
