Police Engaged in Rescue On Shelter Island

Southold Town police are coordinating with Shelter Island authorities.

Update, 1:12 p.m.: Shelter Island police said an elderly gentleman who suffered a stroke at his home was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center from Shelter Island Saturday morning.

According to Shelter Island Police Sergeant Jim Cronin, a Suffolk County Medevac unit landed on Wades Beach, where the man was brought by ambulance for transport.

According to Southold police, the incident was not water related or an accident, but no further details were immediately available. A medevac is believed to have been called to the scene.
