Police: East Marion Man Hits 'Welcome to New York' Sign, Gets DWI Charge

Southold Town Police report that an intoxicated East Marion man hit the 'Welcome to New York' sign with his vehicle in Orient Point on Friday.

Steven Arnott, 57, of East Marion was charged with driving while intoxicated on Friday at 1:15 a.m. in Orient Point after he lost control of his vehicle heading east on Route 25 near the end of the road, police said. Arnott attempted to back out of thick brush and struck the "Welcome to New York" sign on the roadway, police said. Arnott was stopped, found to be intoxicated and transported to police headquarters where he was held for arraignment in
