Police: East Hampton Man Breaks Greenport Tavern Window With Fist

Southold Town Police arrest an East Hampton man after he punched out a large front window of the Whiskey Wind Tavern in Greenport.

Matthew King, 24, of East Hampton was charged with third-degree criminal mischief — a felony — on Saturday at 3:25 a.m. after he broke a large plate glass front window of the on Front Street in Greenport, Southold Town Police reported.

Police said that King had been asked to leave the bar and upon leaving he punched the window, breaking a hole through the middle of it. King then fled from the scene on foot and was stopped nearby by employees of the tavern, police said. The value of the window is $700.
