Police: DWI Charges, Restraining Order Violation Reported

Southold Town Police report two driving while intoxicated arrests and one violation of a restraining order this week.

The following information was supplied by the Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Benjamin K. Oliver, 23, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sept. 6 at 5:56 p.m. at the intersection of Route 48 and Bridge Lane in Cutchogue, after police stopped him for failing to maintain his lane of traffic, police said. Oliver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and transported to police headquarters to be processed.

• Philip Dreiss, 45, of Lindenhurst, was charged with DWI on Sept. 5 at 7:12 p.m., after police stopped him for following a vehicle too closely and for crossing over the center line on Route 25 in Greenport, police said. Dreiss failed several roadside sobriety tests and was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment.

• Robert Wayne Detrick Jr., 22, of Southold, was arrested for violating an order of protection on Sept. 1 at 7:48 p.m., after a staff member of called police to report that a patient of the hospital was a victim of a violated order of protection, police said. Further investigation revealed that Detrick Jr. violated a order of protection against him by calling the victim and sending the victim numerous text messages, police said. Detrick Jr. was arrested, processed, and held at police headquarters in Peconic to await arraignment before
