Police: Drunk Driving, Burglary Charges Reported

Southold Town Police charge two Southold men with DWI and a Cutchogue woman with burglary this weekend.

The following information was supplied by the A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt. 

• Carrie McCabe, 38, of Cutchogue, was charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Sept. 8 at 6:14 p.m., after a 42-year-old Cutchogue man reported to police that someone stole his vehicle, police said. OnStar was notified and the vehicle was located at McCabe's residence, police said. McCabe was arrested and found to be in the possession of stolen property and it was discovered that McCabe also burglarized McDowell's residence. She was held overnight to await arraignment in the morning.

• Michel R. Liegey, 75, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Sept. 8 at 11:40 p.m., after police stopped him for failing to maintain his lane on Route 25 in Southold, police said. He was found to be intoxicated as well as having a suspended license, was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.

• Richard Heath, 29, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sept. 7 at 8:11 p.m., after police observed him making multiple unsafe lane changes, crossing the solid white line, police said. Heath failed several standardized field sobriety tests administered at the scene, was found to be intoxicated, was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.
