Police Chase Leads To DWI Charge For East Marion Man

Police said suspect ignored police lights and sirens, increasing his speed.

A high-speed police chase led to a driving while intoxicated charge for an East Marion man Thursday night.

According to Southold Town Police, Michael Zervos, 46, of East Marion, was arrested in East Marion and charged with DWI and fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, misdemeanors, on Thursday night at 7:53 p.m.

Police said an officer attempted to stop Zervos for a traffic violation on Route 25 in Greenport.

Zervos, police said, ignored the police lights and siren, increasing his speed and continuing to drive, ignoring all traffic control devices. Next, police said, Zervos continued east on Route 25 unitl he was found in his vehicle behind an occupied residence in East Marion.

Zervos was arrested and charged with DWI, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, and several additonal traffic violations, police said.
