Police: Burglary, Criminal Tampering, Motor Vehicle Accident

Southold Town Police report incidents of burglary, criminal tampering at Mattituck High School and a car accident in Southold.

An 82-year-old Greenport man reported tothis past Saturday that someone stole $890 worth of electronics such as a flat-screen TV, a computer and a printer and other household items from his Route 48 Greenport residence sometime between March 20 at 9 p.m. and March 24 at 9 a.m., police said. After investigation, police found that the suspect had cut a screen and entered the residence of a kitchen window and left through a rear sliding door, police said. The incident remains under investigation.

Tammy Gregg, 44, of Southold was driving an SUV westbound on Soundview Avenue in Southold on March 22 at 6:53 a.m. when she lost consciousness due to a medical condition, lost control of the vehicle and hit a utility pole, police said. Members of the transported Gregg to in Greenport for treatment to injuries.

A 51-year-old custodian reported to police that sometime during the early morning hours of March 22 several people entered the school and poured what appeared to be maple syrup on the floor and into several lockers. The suspects also put tape on a door and on a water fountain causing it to overflow onto the floor, police said. Police did not find any physical damage to the building nor any forced entry into the school.
