Police: Boy Injured in Boat Accident; Bay Constables Respond

Southold Town Bay Constables and Southold Fire Department help injured 10-year-old boat passenger.

A 10-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after splitting his chin open while onboard a 17-foot fishing boat on June 23 in Little Peconic Bay, reported.

Bay Constables investigated a boating accident in which the boy, who resides in Doylestown, Penn., was injured while riding in the vessel operated by Thomas Lavinia, 61, of Southold, police said. The boy had been lying on a bench when the boat hit a wake created by a passing boat and he hit his chin on the side of the boat, splitting open his chin, police said.

Members of theRescue Squad treated the boy, who was then transported to for further evaluation.
