Police: Body of Hispanic Male Found In Mattituck Woods Near LIRR Tracks

Death is not suspicious at this time, man appeared to have been homeless, say police.

The body of a deceased Hispanic male was discovered by Southold Town Police on Jan. 20 at 8:58 p.m. in a wooded area near the Long Island Railroad tracks west of Factory Avenue in Mattituck, police reported on Monday.

Police officers responded to a report of an apparent deceased male subject in the wooded area and discovered the body of a Hispanic male at this location who appears to have been homeless, police said. Southold detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office have initiated an investigation into this death, which does not appear to be suspicious at this point.

No other details were immediately available.
