Police: Boating While Intoxicated Charge in East Marion

Southold Town Bay Constables charge a North Salem man with boating while intoxicated.

The following information was supplied by the Southold Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Michael Gress, 48, of North Salem, was charged with boating while intoxicated on June 29 at 2:25 p.m. after he ran aground near a beach in East Marion, police said. Gress was operating his vessel in a southernly direction on autopilot when he ran aground, police said. Upon arrival undersigned officer found Gress to be intoxicated , he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was held for arraignment in Southold Town Justice court.
