Police: Attack Reported in Greenport

Two 26-year-old women reported to Southold Town Police that they were attacked on Sunday at 2:44 a.m. by two male subjects near a driveway in Greenport, police said.

The women, one from Mattituck and one from Brooklyn, told police that the men had been walking in front of them on Main Street in the village, went into a darkened driveway, then jumped out in front of them and grabbed one of the women as they passed by, police said. The woman who was not attacked sprayed pepper spray at the subjects and stopped the assault, and the women were able to flee, police said.

Police searched the area but were unable to located the suspects, police said.
