Police: Air Freshener Doesn't Prevent a Marijuana Possession Charge

Southold Town Police charge a New Windsor teen with marijuana possession Sunday night.

Joseph Shedrick, 17, of New Winsdor, N.Y. was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunday at 9:14 p.m., after an officer on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Sixth Street in Greenport, police said. When the officer began to approach the vehicle, the occupants began to spray air freshener to try to cover up the scent of marijuana, police said. After investigation, the officer found three marijuana joints and a bag of marijuana, which was found on Shedrick, police said. The teen was arrested and released on an appearance ticket.
