Photos: Police Chief Cochran Says Goodbye After 33 Years

Southold Town Police officers, fellow police chiefs from around New York and friends of long-time Chief Carlisle 'Ty' Cochran participate in a ceremonial send-off on his first day of retirement on Tuesday.

After 33 years of service on the — working his way up from patrolman, sergeant, lieutenant, and finally chief in 2000 — Southold Town Police Chief Carlisle 'Ty' Cochran was honored by co-workers and friends as he walked out of police headquarters for the last time as chief at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"I'm going to miss you," Cochran said to his fellow chiefs and officers after thanking Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell and board members. "It's been a lot of fun. As I tell everyone, I'm living my dream. I owe this town way more than I was ever able to give."
