Orient Fire Department Treats Injured Boater Near Gull Island

Rescue workers transport injured boater Tuesday night.

Members of the responded to a report of an injured man who’d fallen into a charter boat Tuesday night.

Stephen Muto, 46, of Cold Spring Harbor was boarding the boat docked at Fishers Island when he fell into the vessel and injured his shoulder and lower leg, fire authorities said. The boat was heading to but due to the level of pain the man reported enroute, the Orient Fire Department was called in and met the charter boat near Gull Island around 6 p.m. Muto was tranferred to the fire department boat and was stabilized before being transported to for evaluation, authorities said.
