Oct. 7: Five Family Friendly Columbus Day Weekend Activities

Take the kids pumpkin-picking this weekend — but watch out for traffic.

It's time for pumpkin-picking, getting lost in corn mazes and a whole lot more fun on the North Fork. Take your family to the following during this long Columbus Day weekend, and from late morning to late afternoon. 

on Sound Avenue in Riverhead beginning at 7 p.m. This maze runs on Friday and Saturday nights throughout October. The maze will be open on Sunday of Columbus Day weekend as well. Admission is $9.

on Shelter Island at the fourth-annual plant-and-sing festival at Sylvester Manor. It begins with yoga at 7 a.m. on Saturday and ends with live music headlined by on Sunday. Go to sylvestermanor.com for more information.
