Mattituck BP Gas Station Reportedly Robbed at Gun Point

Mini mart manager says men, one who was armed, stole cash and cigarettes Monday night.

Mattituck BP Gas Station manager Recep Zaim confirmed Tuesday morning that the station was robbed of $4,000 and cigarettes by three masked men — at least one of them who was armed — Monday night at about 10:30 p.m.

Zaim said that the man with the gun told the worker behind the counter to lay down on the floor, which he did, while two other men jumped behind the counter and stole the money and cigarettes. Zaim said the men then destroyed surveillance cameras located in the back of the mini mart, which became a 24-7 operation this past April.

“Obviously someone knew exactly where to go to do this,” he said. “Thank God no one was hurt.”
