Man Punched in Limo at Vineyard 48

Christopher Schaeffner, 23, is charged with harassment following incident in Cutchogue Saturday, according to the Suffolk Times.

A North Babylon man is facing a harassment charge after he allegedly punched two people in face while in a limousine outside of Vineyard 48, according to a Suffolk Times report

Christopher Schaeffner, 23, was with several other people Saturday afternoon when, according to Southold Town police, Schaeffner stepped on a woman's foot and then became angry when the woman asked him to apologize, the Times reported.

Schaeffner, charged with second-degree harassment, is alleged to have then hit the woman in the jaw with a hard cast on his arm and pushed her onto the floor. When another man in the limo tried to intervene in the fight, Schaeffner punched him in the face as well, the Times reported.

The Route 48 vineyard has made headlines in the past, as some locals have pointed to parties at the vineyard, some promoting its crowd as "" as too rowdy for the North Fork. The managers, however, have told Patch that the winery – just like any other operation – is a business, and businesses need to make money.

The Suffolk Times hates vineyard 48 and writes every article about them in a blatant negative way. They write this story as if there is a violent atmosphere around the vineyard when in fact the three people involved in this story were all friends who came to the venue together. They had no involvement with the establishment. I'm more surprised that since one of the involved persons had a German last name , The Suffolk times didn't try to include some Neo nazi slant to their bogus reporting.

if every business was guilty of promoting bad behavior when a crime is committed "by association" then lets condem all the other business'. lets condem vin 48 and build condo's in place of the farm land.

These thing's happen at other Vineyards at times but their just not reported. Alcohol = trouble. Vineyard 48 is a popular topic so it gets all the attention.

Really? Name one other incident at other vineyards that wasn't reported.

Drunk, stupid people + frequent quantity of same = violent atmosphere, with negative potential (like there aren't enough drunk people driving on the North Road). Venues like this attract them, creating danger for others. How is that not easy to understand? That this particular incident was somehow"contained" to their limousine doesn't mean no association with the business. Do rational, sober people punch others in the jaw with a hard cast on their arms? Doubtful.
