Police: Mastic Man Charged in Murder of Medford Mom

Nearly a month after the body of Sarah Goode was found in the woods in Medford, Suffolk police have made an arrest in the death of the Medford mother. 

Dante Taylor, of Mastic, was arrested in Florida by Suffolk County Police Homicide detectives and U.S. Marshals on Thursday on an unrelated warrant, police said. 

Police: Nursing Home Employee Stole Necklace From Dementia Patient

An employee at a West Babylon nursing home was arrested Friday after police say she stole a necklace from a patient last month and pawned it for cash.

Police say the family of a dementia patient at Berkshire Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located at 10 Berkshire Road, contacted the nursing home, which then notified police on June 25 after a gold necklace and charm worn by the woman went missing.

Cops: 2 Teens Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

Two teens were struck in a hit-and-run on the Wantagh State Parkway early Tuesday, according to New York State Police.

Troopers said they received a call at about 3 a.m for a hit-and-run in the southbound lanes of the Wantagh State Parkway south of Merrick Road. The victims, an 18-year-old man from Wantagh and a 15-year-old girl from Levittown, had just exited their car when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle, cops said.

Police: Woman Robs Huntington Station Bank

Suffolk County police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon in Huntington Station.

Detectives say a woman entered the Citibank at 300 Walt Whitman Road at 12:13 p.m. and approached a teller with a note demanding cash and threatening that she had a gun. 

Police: Stony Brook Student Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver While Rollerblading

A Stony Brook University graduate student was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while he was rollerblading near the Stony Brook campus Wednesday night, police said. 

According to police, Artem G. Ayzen, 25, was rollerblading on North Country Road when he was hit by a vehicle that was heading east on the road shortly before 11 p.m. 

Police: Pair Walking to Ferry Discover Dead Body in Bay Shore Parking Lot

Police are investigating the discovery of a "partially dismembered" body in a Bay Shore parking lot Tuesday morning. 

Third Precinct officers responded to a municipal parking lot on Gibson Street, just east of Maple Avenue, at 6:50 a.m. after two people who were walking to the ferry reported finding the female body. 

Police: Man With Ice Pick Attempts to Rob Stony Brook Cleaners 

A man attempted to rob Unique Cleaners in Stony Brook Monday afternoon, police said.

The man entered the store at 73 Main Street at 4 p.m. and brandished an ice pick or screwdriver while demanding money from an employee.

After the employee told the man there was no money in the register, the man fled without proceeds, police said. 

Cops: Cab Driver Punches, Robs Female Passenger

A cab driver beat and tried to rob a woman he had driven home from Queens Monday morning, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops said the 25-year-old victim came off the J train at Jamaica Station and got into a cab bound for Long Island. The driver brought her to Park Avenue and Waverly Place in East Meadow where he pulled over and demanded her money, cops said. The driver then punched the woman in the face and tried to take her pocketbook, police said.

Cops: Armed Men with Fake Beards Rob Radio Shack

A West Hempstead store was held up at gunpoint by men in elaborate disguises, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives said three men walked into Radio Shack on Hempstead Turnpike with a gun and tied up two male employees in a storage room. The men then took an assortment of electronics and fled the scene.

The employees weren't harmed in the robbery, which took place at 6:55 p.m. last Sunday.

DA: Man Indicted for Stealing Money from Special Needs Camp

A Rockville Centre man was formally charged Tuesday with stealing money from a special needs camp on Long Island, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's office.

Drew Morgan, 43, was charged with first-degree grand larceny and three counts of second-degree grand larceny. He faces between eight and 25 years in prison if convicted.

DA: Retired NYPD Cop Indicted in Girl’s Hit-and-Run Death

A Nassau County grand jury has indicted a retired NYPD officer from Syosset in connection with the hit-and-run death of a 13-year-old girl, authorities said Thursday.

Michael Elardo, 48, pleaded not guilty to a grand jury indictment that accuses him of leaving the scene of an incident, without reporting it, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.

Masked Man Wearing Pajamas Robs Franklin Square Bank

Nassau County Police are searching for witnesses to a Franklin Square bank robbery.

Cops said a man entered Chase Bank on Hempstead Turnpike at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and approached a teller with a demand note. The teller cooperated and handed over an unknown amount of cash before fleeing through a rear parking lot toward Sobo Avenue, police said.
